Installing the program in MetaTrader 4

If your broker gave you MetaTrader 4 (not 5), this is your program: NorteCopier4.ex4. It does the same as the MetaTrader 5 one, with the same app and the same linking code. One file, no installer, no DLL.

1. Download the program on the computer that runs MetaTrader 4

On that computer, open the browser and type nortecopier.com/ea4. NorteCopier4.ex4 downloads straight away.

(Plain nortecopier.com/ea gives you the MetaTrader 5 one, which MetaTrader 4 cannot load. Mind the 4.)

2. Put it in the MetaTrader 4 folder

Menu File → Open Data Folder. A folder opens; go into MQL4 and then Experts. Copy the file there.

3. Refresh the list

Back in MetaTrader, in the Navigator panel (Ctrl+N if you do not see it), right-click Expert Advisors and choose Refresh. NorteCopier4 should appear.

4. Drag it onto a chart

Open any chart — the asset and timeframe do not matter — and drag NorteCopier4 onto it. In the window that appears, Common tab, tick Allow live trading. Accept.

The program’s panel fills the whole chart and sits in the centre, so the one-click trading panel in the corner cannot cover it. That chart belongs to the program: open another one if you want to watch candles.

5. Allow the address

Same as in MetaTrader 5: Tools → Options → Expert Advisors, tick Allow WebRequest for listed URL, and add https://hub.nortecopier.com. See Allowing the server address.

6. Link

The panel shows a six-digit code. In the app, Account → Trading accounts, type it and press Link. See Linking your terminal.

What is different from MetaTrader 5

• MetaTrader 4 does not keep a connection open with us: the program asks every second or two whether there is anything new. A signal takes a couple of seconds at most to arrive; in practice you will not notice.
• The panel buttons (Open the app, Help, Support) may take a couple of seconds to react, for the same reason.
• If you close part of a trade, MetaTrader 4 gives the remainder a new ticket number. The program knows and tells the server: the signal stays the same one in your history.

Checking it worked

The panel goes from “waiting to be linked” to showing your plan and channels, and in the app the account shows a green dot. If it says it has no connection, it is almost always the address (step 5) or the AutoTrading button in the top bar, which must be green.
