I changed account in MetaTrader

If you close one account in MetaTrader and open another, the program detects it as soon as it connects.

Where it is: Accounts → On your computer.

What happens

The terminal stays linked to you, but the account number changes, and for safety that goes through a review: we notify you through the bot, the account receives no orders until we approve it (usually a matter of minutes during support hours), and if it was not you, you tell us right there.

Once approved, everything is calculated with the new account: you will see its balance, currency and leverage in the app, and percentage risk comes from the new balance.

And the trades that were open

They stay in the old account, where you opened them. The copier no longer sees them, so:

• It will not move their stop loss even if the channel says to.
• It will not close them partially or completely.
• Their stop loss and take profit are still sitting at the broker and work just the same.

Put another way: they stop being managed, but they are not left unprotected.

If you are about to switch accounts with live trades, decide first what you are doing with them.

From demo to live

The most typical case: you tested on demo and want to go live. Do it calmly:

1. Check risk is set to percentage, not fixed lot, or the demo's lot goes straight into the live account as it is.
2. Review the loss limits, which hurt for real now.
3. If you can, use two terminals instead of switching accounts: one on demo and one live, with the same signal entering both. You compare without stopping testing.

If you change broker

Same thing, but the symbol names change too. The catalogue is read again automatically on connecting.
