Shadow mode does exactly what live mode does — reads the message, applies your risk, works out the lot, places the stop and the targets — with one difference: it sends no order to your account.
Then it follows the price. It asks your terminal what the market did minute by minute from that moment on, and tells you how it would have ended: to target, to stop, or still open.
Almost every copier charges you before you know whether it reads your channel properly. Here you see it first, with your broker's real candles, not a reference price nobody trades.
And you see two things at once: whether the channel is good and whether your configuration is good. They are not the same. A decent channel with badly set risk loses money all the same.
If one candle touches the target and the stop within the same candle, we cannot know which came first. In that case the stop wins, and the outcome is marked as ambiguous.
That is deliberate: we prefer a number you can defend to one that flatters you. Your real result, with slippage and spread, will almost never be better than the shadow.
Until you have twenty or thirty settled signals. With five you cannot tell skill from luck.
The Shadow plan never expires: you can keep channels in shadow forever, even while you trade others for real.
